Joshua has taken a new interest in fishing. He got a fishing pole for his birthday and couldn't wait to try it out.
His friend, Bailey, Maleah, Brynna and Jonah all came along for the fun.
The kids kept casting and casting and casting. I wasn't sure we would ever catch anything, but wouldn't you know it, Brynna sat down and waited for about a minute and caught a 2 1/2 lb. trout. She was so proud. She spent the rest of the time prancing around and getting anyone she could find to come see her BIG fish! Bailey caught 5 small ones. Maleah talked Bailey into giving her one of his. And Joshua was growing more frustrated by the minute. But just when I started saying some silent prayers that he would catch one, he did and it was a decent size. After that he caught another one, bigger than the first.
Here he is with his catch. He was so happy!
After all the fishing and gutting were done we took them home for Don to cook. We ate a little, but there was something about catching them, seeing them all slimy that made it a little unappetizing to me, but it was a lot of fun.

Where were you fishing? In someone's backyard pond? Ha! My kids also love to fish if they could just talk daddy into getting a license! Then maybe Stella could get more use out of her Barbie fishing pole down at the lake.
We were actually at the Trout farm in Spring Lake. I thought that would make it super easy, but it was still a bit of work. The good news is you don't have to have a license, but you do have to pay for them. $26 dollars later...they did fillet them for us.
